The freezing of development aid from the US known as USAID by president Donald Trump has forced the closure of almost 80% of the emergency food kitchens set up to help people left destitute by Sudan’s civil war, reported BBC News on February 25th.

Aid volunteers said the impact of Trump’s executive order halting contributions from USAID for 90 days have lead to the shutting of more than 1,100 communal kitchens.

Nearly two million people are estimated to be struggling to survive and have been affected.
