Moroccan former minister appointed head of Maroc Telecom

Mohamed Benchaaboun has been appointed as the new chairman of Maroc Telecom, the main telecommunications company in Morocco, reported Yabiladi on February 26th.

He replaces Abdeslam Ahizoune, who has held the position for almost three decades. Benchaaboun will serve a two-year term, beginning on March 1st 2025 and running until the same date in 2027.

Benchaaboun has previously held positions as Morocco’s minister of economy, finance, and administration reform, while in 2022, he was made the country’s ambassador to France.
