Morocco: Korean company wins major train contract

Korean industry heavyweight Hyundai Rotem has won a $1.5bn train contract with Morocco, making the biggest single deal the company has secured to date.
According to The Korea Herald, the agreement was announced on 26 February and will see the train-based subsidiary of the Hyundai group deliver double decker trains with a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour.
Morocco hopes the trains will bolster its public transportation system, in particular connecting Casablanca with the rest of the country, as it looks ahead to its co-hosting the 2030 Soccer World Cup with Portugal and Spain.
