Libya has formally requested to host the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) meeting in Benghazi.

According to Atalayar, the proposal was discussed during conversations on 25 February at the League of Arab States headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. Abdullah Blihaq, spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives, confirmed that the Executive Committee reviewed Libya’s request to host the Union’s gathering in Benghazi.

The committee also examined the special report on proposed amendments to the Union’s charter. Members concluded the meeting by agreeing to schedule the thirty-eighth APU session in Algeria during the first half of May 2025, while simultaneously approving the Union’s final budget account for 2024.
