UK minister resigns over aid cuts
The UK’s International Development Minister, Anneliese Dodds, has resigned from Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Cabinet following the government’s announcement of massive cutbacks to its overseas aid budget, in a bid to pay for an increase in defence expenditure, The National via Reuters reported on February 28th.
Posting her letter of resignation on social media, Dodds said: “It is with sadness that I have had to tender my resignation as minister for international development and for women and equalities.”
Dodds said that whilst she did not agree with the government’s decision to slash aid for international development she would still support the government.
