Morocco received six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters in a deal with Boeing for twenty-four Apache helicopters.

According to Middle East Monitor, the Apache is widely considered as the most powerful attack helicopter in the world. Morocco’s version also boasts some advanced specifications.

Apache helicopters are armed heavily, carrying up to 16 Hellfire missiles, seventy-six rockets, and 1,200 rounds of 30mm ammunition. The maximum speed of the helicopter is over 250 kilometers per hour.

The country signed a contract with Boeing in order to purchase twenty-four Apache helicopters, costing around $1.5 billion, Morocco has also been given the option to buy an additional twelve helicopters.

Alongside the helicopters, the deal is set to include Hellfire missiles, rocket launchers, communication and navigation systems, as well as maintenance equipment and a training program for Moroccan military personnel.

This purchase has allowed Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces to reach a higher level of capability. Morocco is officially the second African country to utilise these helicopters after Egypt. This comes shortly after Morocco received Bayraktar TB2  drones from Turkish defence company Baykartech in January, also to improve their defence capabilities. During February it was announced that Baykartech will set up a production facility in Morocco.
