Schools in the north of Morocco have closed, facing severe weather conditions.

Classes are suspended across the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region this Monday, March 10, due to severe weather conditions, according to Yabladi.

A statement from the provincial directorates of National Education, Preschool, and Sports has announced, “In coordination with local authorities, to suspend classes on March 10 in all public and private schools”.

This decision follows the orange alert bulletin from the General Directorate of Meteorology, which warns of heavy rains, thunderstorms and localised hail from Sunday, 12:30 pm to Monday, 6 pm.

The provincial directorates have advised everyone to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students and educational and administrative staff.

Rainfall is expected to reach 60 to 90 mm in the provinces of Tangier-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, M’diq-Fnideq, Chefchaouen, Tetouan, Taounate, Taza, Ouezzane, Larache, and Al Hoceima.

Snowfall of 5 to 10 cm is also expected in several provinces, including Al Hoceima and Chefchaouen, from Sunday at 12:30 PM to Monday at 11 PM.
