Syria clashes with insurgents for third day in Latakia

Fighting between Syrian government forces and pro-Assad rebels has continued for a third consecutive day since violence first erupted between the two groups.
According to a report by The New Arab, the rebels, made up of troops loyal to ousted Syrian President Basher al-Assad, launched attacks on government forces in the city of Latakia on March 6.
Interim President Ahmed Al Sharra condemned the violence as an “attack on all Syrian’s” and vowed that his government would restore law and order while protecting the city’s ethic groups from reprisals.
