As part of its ongoing efforts to modernise its military, Morocco has made a significant acquisition by incorporating the Chinese TB-001 drone into its fleet, according to Atalayar on March 15th.

Known as the ‘Twin-tailed Scorpion,’ this development not only enhances the Royal Moroccan Air Force capabilities but also highlights the growing defence relationship between Morocco and China.

Each drone is valued at approximately $280,000 and was developed by the Chinese company Sichuan Tengden Sci-Tech Innovation Co. Ltd, reports Atalayar.

The TB-001 is characterised by its twin-tail design and dual engines, with a wingspan of 18 metres, a length of 8.8 metres, and a height of 2.7 metres.

A versatile multi-role aircraft, the ‘Twin-tailed Scorpion’ is capable of a range of missions, including reconnaissance, emergency rescue, meteorological tasks, wide-area patrols, and air transport.

It can also be equipped with light missiles to target ground objectives such as vehicles and personnel, further solidifying its strategic value to the Royal Moroccan Air Force.

According to Atalayar, this Morocco TB-001 drone acquisition represents a significant leap in Morocco’s efforts to modernise and diversify its air fleet, strengthening its role in regional security.
