Ex-president of Senegal Macky Sall, who led the country from 2012 to 2024, stands accused of having presided over “catastrophic” mismanagement of public funds after an independent report invalidated figures under his rule, revising debt and the public deficit upwards.

This was revealed by a government spokesman on February 28th and reported by RFI. Sall, who has resided in Morocco since he left office last year, has rejected the row over the report and described it as “political”.

Government spokesman Moustapha Sarre stated that Sall “could even be considered as the leader of a gang that committed criminal acts”.
