US launches airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen
The US has launched a series of airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen in response to the Iran-backed group’s threat against maritime shipping in the region.
According to France24, the strikes were ordered by US President Donald Trump to use “overwhelming lethal force” to bring the rebels to heel.
The strikes come as the Houthis have repeatedly threatened to attack maritime shipping off the coast of Yemen in response to Israel’s blockade on Gaza.
