Sources deny that Libya is to name new President

Sources from Libya’s parliament and people close to Libyan National Army (LNA) commander Khalifa Haftar denied to Asharq Al-Awsat reports that the legislature was poised to name him as interim president, according to Asharq al-Awsat on March 18th.

A news outlet had reported that parliament was due to convene following a series of secret meetings in Cairo. However MPs from western Libya are opposed to his appointment.

Neither the parliament nor its spokesman have commented on the report.
