Morocco AU talks began on March 18, 2025, in Addis Ababa as the North African nation exercised its role as the current chair of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council.

According to Yabiladi, the consultations involved six nations suspended from the AU following governmental changes: Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Niger, and Sudan.

The purpose was to assess their democratic transitions and maintain dialogue with the African Union. These discussions were conducted under Article 8 of the PSC protocol, which allows for informal meetings. This initiative demonstrates Morocco’s intent to promote regional stability and guide these nations toward reintegration into the AU.
