Algerian prosecutors seek 10 year sentence for writer

Algerian prosecutors have requested a ten-year prison sentence for French-Algerian writer Boualem Sansal, further escalating tensions with France, according to The Arab Weekly on March 22nd.
Sansal, a naturalised French writer of Algerian origin, is known for his criticism of Algerian authorities as well as of Islamists.
The 80-year-old was detained at Algiers airport in November, at a time of growing tensions between France and its former colony.
