Leader of the PDCI, Tidjane Thiam, has renounced his French nationality and is now exclusively Ivorian – a prerequisite for any presidential candidate.

According to Article 55 of the Constitution, a presidential candidate must be “exclusively Ivorian”, reported by RFI on March 20th.

Tidjane Thiam has expressed concerns that the “election will not be inclusive,” in an overt allusion to the absence of several senior figures from the provisional electoral list, including Laurent Gbagbo and Charles Ble Goude.
