Netanyahu dismisses head of intelligence agency

Netanyahu’s government has dismissed the head of Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic intelligence agency, citing “ongoing lack of trust” as the reason for his dismissal, according to The New Arab on March 21st.
Ronen Bar, appointed in October 2021, recently admitted responsibility for the failure to prevent the October 7, 2023 attacks which saw over 1000 Israelis killed by Hamas.
The government’s unanimous approval of Netanyahu’s proposal to dismiss Ronen Bar comes during the agency’s investigations into the Prime Minister and his closest aides’ relationships with Qatar.
