Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested Ukraine be placed under a form of temporary administration whilst new elections are organised and key accords of a war settlement are signed.

According to Reuters on March 28th, Putin’s comments come amid US attempts to re-establish links with Russia and Kyiv in separate talks as Ukrainian and European leaders accuse the Kremlin of deliberately prolonging the ceasefire talks.

Consistently depicting the Ukrainian government as unelected Nazi’s and therefore an illegitimate negotiating partner, the prospect of a new temporary administration would give Russia an opportunity to install a Kremlin-friendly government.
