Egypt: Tourists killed after tourist submarine sinks

Six tourists were killed in Egypt when a submarine carrying Russian citizens sank off the Red Sea coastline, on 27th March according to the local governor’s office, which may discourage the influx of Russians, which plays an increasingly large part in the local areas tourism industry, as written by Asharq Al-Awsat.
The Russian consulate in Hurghada, Egypt, said the submarine, named “Sindbad”, had 45 Russian tourists on board in addition to crew members. It said four people had died but did not specify if they were Russian.
The consulate added, “Most of those on board were rescued and taken to their hotels and hospitals in Hurghada,”

Local media reported that rescue teams had saved 29 of the 45 passengers.
