Conflict in the Congo tests China’s diplomatic resolve

China’s long standing- policy of absolute neutrality in African conflicts is facing growing challenges due to the ongoing war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
As reported by BBC News, Rwanda – a country in which China has significant economic interest – has been accused by the UN and other international bodies of fuelling the conflict in the region.
This has placed China in a difficulty position, as it seeks to maintain strong diplomatic and economic ties with both the DRC and Rwanda, while avoiding entanglement in the escalating tensions.
