Syria claims progress as it seeks US sanctions relief

Syria has formally responded to a list of US conditions for possible partial sanctions relief, saying it had met most demands but others required “mutual understandings”.
As reported by The New Arab on April 26th, a four-page letter outlines steps taken on chemical weapons, missing Americans, and foreign fighters, while sidestepping issues like US counterterrorism strikes.
Washington is reviewing the response, which Syrian officials hope will lead to deeper talks on sanctions, embassy reopening’s, and normalisation.
