May 8th, 1945: Algeria remembering the massacre 80 years on

On May 8th, 2025, Algeria will commemorate the lives of those lost during the massacre and which marked the beginning of the Algerian independence uprising.
Reported by RFI on May 8th, 30 French officials will travel to the former French colony to commemorate the massacres in Sétif, Guelma, and Kherrata 80 years ago.
The trip comes at a time when Franco-Algerian relations are particularly tense following an incessant tit-for-tat diplomacy leading to expulsion of diplomats and public verbal floggings.
