Netanyahu vows Jerusalem will “never be divided again”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on May 26th that Israel will continue to hold control over a “unified” Jerusalem, marking the anniversary of Israel’s capture of East Jerusalem during the 1967 Six-Day War, according to the Middle East Eye.
Netanyahu stated, “We will keep Jerusalem united, whole, and under Israeli sovereignty.”
He further emphasised, “Jerusalem, our eternal capital, was reunited 58 years ago in the Six-Day War. It will never be divided again.”
Under international law, East Jerusalem, including the Old City, is regarded as occupied territory. It has long been proposed as the capital for a future independent Palestinian state within the framework of a two-state solution.
