Deutsche Welle affirms Polisario army’s role in Syria’s war

On May 30th, German international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) has reported the confirmation of extensive claims that Polisario fighters have been involved in Syria’s civil war, also exposing their links with the Assad regime, Algeria, and Iran, according to Moroccan government-friendly outlet Hespress.

DW divulges into the capturing of several Polisario military personnel in Aleppo after the crumbling of the Assad regime, who were arrested by Syrian police. Ahmed Al Charaa, Syria’s temporary president, allegedly denied Algeria’s request to release them.

There have been longstanding tensions between Syria’s socialist Baathist regime and Morocco, with 2012 witnessing a mending of ties between the Assad regime and the Polisario.
