China’s influence in Algeria continues to grow at an impressive rate with the latter taking a leading role in navigating Beijing through the continent’s hotspots for investment.

From June 11th to 12th, Bakhta Selma Mansouri, Algerian Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of African Affairs, is taking part in the ministerial follow-up meeting of the 4th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), held in China’s Hunan province.

According to Al 24 News, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs released a statement outlining the meeting’s purpose, describing it as “a significant step to enhance coordination between African countries and the People’s Republic of China on the mechanisms for implementing the Joint Action Plan 2025-2027, adopted at the 4th FOCAC Summit in Beijing, and further promoting cooperation between Africa and China towards more effective partnerships, in line with the African continent’s development priorities.”

Mansouri further underlined “the importance of strengthening the practical dimension of the China-Africa partnership, by focusing on the implementation of the Forum’s commitments and the creation of monitoring and assessment mechanisms.”

She also emphasised the need to intensify institutional coordination between African and Chinese actors in order to implement signed agreements as swiftly as possible, particularly those related to major initiatives such as the Global Development Initiative.

Alongside Mansouri’s diplomatic engagement, Algeria is marking its economic presence at the event through the participation of several Algerian companies in the China-Africa Economic and Commercial Expo, held from June 12th to 15th. This forms part of a broader effort to strengthen trade partnerships and expand cooperation and investment opportunities between economic actors on both sides, the ministry added.
