US staff leave Iraq as Iran-Israel clash unravels

The US is evacuating non-essential embassy staff from Iraq as security risks rise, according to the BBC on June 12th.
US officials said fears of Iran’s retaliation against American sites located in Iraq, factored into the decision. The US state department also announced restrictions on US government staff within Israel, limiting their travel to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Be’er Sheva, citing “increased regional tensions.”
US President Donald Trump suggested Americans exit the region “because it could be a dangerous place.” He added that the US will not allow Iran to produce a nuclear weapon.
