Twenty countries, including Egypt and Jordan, have condemned the conflict in the Middle East which they say was triggered by Israel’s blows against Iran and have urged for diplomacy and cooperation to resume, according to Asharq Al-Awsat on June 17th.
The statement said that “there’s an imperative need to halt Israeli hostilities against Iran, which come during a time of increasing tension in the Middle East, and to work towards de-escalation, to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire and restoration of calm.”
The foreign ministers of Algeria, Bahrain, Brunei, Chad, the Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, and Mauritania rejected the notion of military action being used to solve the conflict. The escalating aggression was also denounced by Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Turkey, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
