Hamas denies its leader survived assassination in Qatar

Hamas denied speculation on June 15th that Khalil al-Hayya, its chief leader, had been the target of an assassination attempt in Qatar, claiming the allegations are politically-driven, The New Arab reported on June 16th.
Al-Hayya, who runs the political office of the Palestinian militant group, is now the group’s leading figure, after Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar were killed by Israel.
On X and Telegram claims had spread on June 14th via anonymous accounts, that al-Hayya was the target of an assassination attempt. Hamas immediately dismissed the allegations and said: “The media and social media activists must be accurate in publishing this news . . .”
