EU pushes Libya towards economic reforms

European Union Ambassador Nicola Orlando met with Libya’s Central Bank Governor Naji Issa to address the country’s economic challenges.

According to the Libya Review on the 18th of June, the discussions focused on currency stability, inflation control, and the need for a unified public spending framework.

Orlando emphasised the importance of maintaining the Central Bank’s independence and institutional integrity. The meeting is part of broader EU-supported efforts to foster financial reforms and build economic resilience in Libya.

The diplomatic engagement reflects international commitment to supporting Libya’s economic stabilisation amid ongoing political fragmentation.
