Palestinian disarmament in Lebanon delays as conflict escalates

A Palestinian official in Lebanon said that the planned disarmament within Palestinian refugee camps has been delayed due to tensions in the Middle East, Arab News via WAFA news agency reported on June 17th.
The declaration occurred hours before the government of Lebanon was scheduled to operate the disarmament within Palestinian refugee camps in Beirut as well as its suburban areas.
WAFA, in reference to a Lebanese official who is aware of Lebanon’s Palestinian affairs, said that Palestine reiterated its pledge to a joint statement released on May 21st. The official said the statement was firm on “Lebanon’s sovereignty, the extension of state authority, and the exclusive right of the Lebanese state to bear arms.”
