Gaza death toll exceeds 55,700 as conflict rages on

The number of Palestinians who died since October 7th 2023 in Gaza has now hit 55,706, with 130,101 people sustaining wounds, Middle East Eye reported on June 19th.

Since Israel violated the ceasefire on March 18th and restarted its attacks on Gaza, there has been at least 5,401 deaths and over 18,060 have suffered wounds.

Meanwhile, Israeli attacks caused at least 140 deaths in Gaza, during the last 24 hours, Middle East Eye via Reuters reported on June 18th. On June 17th, Gaza’s health ministry announced that 397 Palestinians attempting to attain food aid had died and over 3000 suffered wounds, since aid distribution was reintroduced late last month.
