The Egyptian and Chinese foreign ministers, Badr Abdelatty and Wang Yi respectively, have held a phone conversation in which they discussed the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, according to Africanews on June 19th.

Wang, a top Communist Party official, denounced Israel’s blatant disregard for international law, which he said has dangerously worsened the regional crisis. He emphasised that all parties, especially Israel, must restore diplomacy and cease fire in order to facilitate de-escalation.

Wang highlighted the need for stronger international consensus to resolve this “critical juncture”, placing extra responsibility on regional powers.
