Israel’s military stated it killed a senior Hezbollah artillery commander in Lebanon, as tensions in the Middle East intensify, Middle East Eye reported on June 19th.

Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, claimed the military official Yassin Abdel Moneim Ezzedine organised offensives against Israeli targets. He also stated the commander participated in restoring the Lebanese militant group’s artillery power.

Hezbollah has not released a comment on the killing so far. Earlier, on June 6th, Israel vowed to keep striking Lebanon unless Hezbollah disarms, Al-Monitor via AFP reported.

Israel conducted its fourth and strongest attack on the densely populated area, known as a Hezbollah stronghold. The previous strike happened in late April 2025 during the six-month ceasefire intended to end clashes with Hezbollah.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz stated: “There will be no calm in Beirut, and no order or stability in Lebanon, without security for the State of Israel.” He continued: “Agreements must be honoured and if you do not do what is required, we will continue to act, and with great force.”

Israeli strikes on June 6th targeted what the military called underground Hezbollah drone sites after an evacuation alert, Maghrebi reported.  According to the BBC, The attack happened before Eid al-Adha, a major Islamic festival, and forced masses to flee Beirut’s southern neighbourhoods.

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam denounced the attack as a “systematic and deliberate” strike on national security, economy, and faith. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun labelled it a “flagrant violation of an international accord.”
