The funding forms part of a three-year financial support package worth roughly $1.8 billion, which was announced in April 2024.

According to the commission, $173m has been allocated for the PA to guarantee that key public services are operating, such as salaries being paid to teachers, healthcare employees and civil servants. The PA has faced allegations of corruption and poor governance.
