Those who have survived torture in Syria’s detention centres are experiencing an extreme lack of medical, mental health, and legal assistance, The New Arab reported on June 26th.

According to an Amnesty International report published on June 26th, the survivors have suffered physical injuries that are long-term and have experienced post-traumatic stress disorder as well as additional psychological issues.

The survivors face limited opportunities in a nation with a healthcare system that has fallen apart, the report said. The report comes amid increasing concerns over the impact of foreign aid cuts on rehabilitation for detention survivors.
