World Bank green lights over $1bn for Lebanon, Syria and Iraq

The World Bank said on June 25th that it has given the green light for more than $1 billion to go towards reconstruction and infrastructure projects in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, according to The New Arab plus agencies.
The largest amount of the funding goes to Iraq, where the bank okayed $930 million to boost the nation’s railway infrastructure, strengthen domestic trade, increase job opportunities and expand the economy.
Lebanon would get $250 million to boost the reconstruction of the post-war country, while $146 million would go towards the electricity sector of Syria, which has also endured conflict.
