Drone intercepted near Iraqi airport housing US troops

Near Iraq’s Erbil airport which hosts US troops, a drone was intercepted late on July 3rd, according to Kurdish security forces, The New Arab plus agencies reported.
The counterterrorism services of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, said: “At 21:58 (1858 GMT) an explosive-packed drone was downed near Erbil International Airport, without causing casualties or damage.”
Rocket and drone attacks have previously targeted Erbil airport, which is home to a military base. The interim director of the airport, Dana Tofeek, said to AFP that the airport remains safe and that the incident only caused one flight to be delayed.
