Hamas says Israel is intentionally destabilising Gaza

A Hamas security official, speaking to Al Jazeera Arabic, accused Israel of deliberately engineering unrest to destabilise the Gaza Strip, Middle East Eye reported on July 3rd.
The official stated that Hamas had intercepted Israeli efforts to smuggle surveillance equipment and new mobile phones to collaborators within the enclave.
According to the same official, agents linked to Israeli intelligence had also attempted to funnel significant quantities of narcotics into Gaza. These substances came through aid teams responsible for managing distribution points, the official claimed. The purpose, the official alleged, was to “ensnare young people, bring them down, and assign them to security and espionage missions”.
The statement implies a broader Israeli strategy aimed at eroding social cohesion and manipulating vulnerable individuals through addiction and coercion.
On July 3rd, Amnesty International accused Israel of weaponizing aid centres to carry out genocide against Palestinians, according to The New Arab plus agencies.
Middle East Eye reported on June 27th of allegations that opioids had been discovered in flour bags distributed by the US and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. This claim echoed growing concerns over the integrity and true objectives of certain aid operations entering the besieged territory.
These developments, while yet to be independently verified, reflect mounting tensions over the nature of foreign involvement in Gaza’s humanitarian infrastructure and raise questions about the potential use of aid channels for intelligence operations.
