Syrians say normalisation with Israel could cause war

Syrians have said their country could enter another conflict if their government forges ahead with a normalisation agreement with Israel, Middle East Eye reported on July 9th.
Previously, Israel’s foreign minister Gideon Saar said that Israel was looking to reach normalisation with more nations. Syria and Lebanon were among the nations officially looking to have diplomatic ties with Israel.
IT engineer, Alaa Ibrahim al-Hajji warned that any progress towards strengthening ties between Syria and Israel will prompt fury among the public. Al-Hajji added: “I don’t want Syria to be dragged into another war after all the destruction we’ve endured.”
