Greece blocks all migration from North Africa after Libya snub

The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has announced that for three months, Greece will suspend all asylum requests for migrants coming across the Mediterranean Sea from North Africa, according to the Libya Observer on July 9th.
The announcement comes in response to an EU migration delegation, including a Greek representative, being refused entry to Benghazi by the eastern Libyan government and accused of violating diplomatic norms by visiting the rival government in Tripoli first on their trip.
Mitsotakis’ statement said that they are “closing the road to Greece, and any migrant entering the country illegally will be detained,” a significant move in the crackdown on migration into Europe.
