The Libyan Attorney General announced on July 14th that authorities have freed 104 migrants from a human trafficking network operating in the eastern Libyan city Ajdabiya, according to the Libya Observer.

The investigation revealed that the victims were held against their will and treated inhumanely while their abusers extorted ransom payments from families.

Five individuals have been accused of illegally detaining and torturing migrants, after having been arrested by security forces who are working to uncover the trafficking network in the nation.
