Libya: authorities ignore wildfires spreading across southwest

Wildfires began in southwestern Libya on July 12th, and according to Libya Review on July 15th they have now grown into a serious crisis consuming farmlands and threatening residential areas.
Online footage shows locals using makeshift equipment to tackle the fire, prompting criticism of the lack of intervention from the governments in the east and west.
“The situation is growing more dangerous by the hour. We are facing this crisis alone, with zero support from any official body,” stated the head of the Local Youth Council in the area in an appeal to Libyan authorities and emergency services.
