Surgeon says Gaza patients die from wounds because of starvation

In Gaza, wounds and infections are causing hospital patients to die because they are also experiencing starvation, according to a British surgeon operating in the territory, The New Arab reported on July 17th.
Professor Nick Maynard, who works alongside the Medical Aid for Palestinians’ Emergency Medical Team in Nasser Hospital, Khan Younis, said that food insecurity in Gaza has become worse since his previous visit to the territory.
Maynard said: “I have had so many patients die because they can’t get enough food to recover, it’s distressing to see that and know that it is preventable and treatable.”
