Jordan: Politician arrested over anti-government Facebook post

Jordan’s security forces arrested an Islamic Action Front (IAF) party member on July 20th, who allegedly made a Facebook post which breaches the nation’s Cybercrime Law, according to Middle East Eye.
The public prosecutor ordered the politician, Yanal Freihat’s detention for one week following his criticism of a government statement claiming the Muslim Brotherhood has illegally collected 30 million dinars, while also conveying scepticism over the governments version of events.
Viewed as a key member of Jordan’s conservative parliament, Freihat, got 18,000 votes in the parliamentary elections in September last year – one of the biggest amounts of votes on a national scale.
