Trump vows support for Afghans detained in UAE

US President Donald Trump announced on July 20th he would support Afghans detained in the United Arab Emirates, who left their home country when the Taliban extended its authority in the nation, according to Al-Monitor via Reuters.
The US president has previously condemned mass immigration and suspended refugee resettlement when he assumed office in January.
On truth Social, Trump said: “I will try to save them, starting right now.” In 2021, the UAE agreed to host thousands of Afghans who had been evacuated from Kabul, as the Taliban forced out the US-aligned government.
