Indian authorities have announced that they are deploying 40 special forces commandos to protect their embassy in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, according to the Libya Observer on July 28th.

The Indian Embassy in Libya was closed for almost five years until July 2024 due to the escalating security situation in North Africa.

The safety of foreign missions in Libya is a growing concern being called out by embassies and international agencies, particularly since a UK diplomatic envoy was attacked in Tripoli on June 26th.
