Saudi Arabia inks deals worth $6.4bn for reconstruction in Syria

Saudi Arabia on July 24th inked investment and partnership deals worth $6.4 billion to help with Syria’s post-war reconstruction as well as the recovery of its telecommunications alongside other sectors, according to The New Arab via Reuters.
Saudi Arabia has been a significant supporter of Syria’s current government, which came into power after the ouster of former leader Bashar al-Assad in December.
According to Khalid Al-Falih, the Saudi Investment Minister, “47 agreements and memoranda of understandings” were signed which have a collective value of almost 24 billion Saudi riyals – the equivalent of roughly $6.4 billion.
