Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has ordered for an aid package to be dispatched for Gaza in the midst of Israel opening up new aid corridors, Yabiladi reported on July 31st.

The package reportedly amounts to almost 180 tons, containing essential goods such as milk for children, medicines, blankets, weather resistant tents, and surgical equipment. The aid is purportedly aimed to help the most vulnerable in the Gaza Strip with the delivery following a specially coordinated route to ensure it reaches the Palestinians directly.

Meanwhile, Israel announced a daily pause in military activity across the Gaza Strip following a huge international pushback against the country’s conduct in the Gaza conflict.

Israeli authorities have said secure corridors for food and medical supplies will operate between 6am and 11pm. The UAE and Jordan are amongst countries who have taken advantage of the window, airdropping 25 tonnes of aid since Netanyahu officially opened up the corridors.

The people of Morocco have been in full support for those suffering in Gaza, on July 20th, a huge protest, organised by multiple civil society groups, saw thousands gather outside parliamentary buildings in Rabat, condemning Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians.

The same attitude of support is seen in the stance of the government, their statement regarding the aid package highlighted this: “This humanitarian initiative reflects Morocco’s continued and tangible solidarity and underscores the Sovereign’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and to the brotherly Palestinian people,” The Foreign Affairs Minister said.
