Hamas will not disarm unless Palestinian state is recognised

Hamas has reiterated that it will not lay down its arms until a Palestinian state is recognised, following’s Israel’s push for the militant group to disarm, the BBC via Reuters reported on August 2nd.
Hamas stated it was responding to comments which it said came from US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, that the group was prepared to disarm.
Israel believes one of the pivotal conditions for any agreement to end the war is for Hamas to disarm. Arab nations have ramped up the pressure on Hamas to lay down its arms and give up its authority of Gaza.
