Libya’s strongman Haftar appoints son as his deputy army chief

The leader of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, has appointed his son Saddam Haftar as the deputy commander-in-chief of his forces, according to the Libya Observer on August 12th.
A statement making this announcement added that more new appointments will follow, as part of Haftar’s “Vision 2030” intended to develop the army.
The Libyan National Army is loyal to the eastern based government headed by Osama Hammad, who has publicly congratulated Saddam Haftar.
