Sudan’s RSF kill 18 civilians in attack on villages near capital

Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces killed 18 civilians in an attack on two villages just west of Khartoum, according to The New Arab plus agencies on August 9th.
The attack took place on August 7th in the state of North Kordofan, which is of strategic importance to the RSF as it contains a fuel smuggling route from Libya. The area has become a major battleground between the military and the RSF, and communications have been mostly severed.
Emergency Lawyers, a human rights group that has monitored the war since it began in April 2023, said that the attack on the two villages “killed 18 civilians and wounded dozens.” Those who were injured were transferred to El-Obeid, the state capital, for treatment.
